CA Police Officers: Lost my CA driver's license. What if I get pulled over before my DMV appointment?

I absolutley cannot take time off work to get another one till next week. Just like the DMV employees, I too work in a job where we are understaffed and overworked, so please no lectures about how I have to make time. Anyhow, what if I get pulled over? I do have a copy of my DL plus I have my US passport. Do you think having my DL number will be sufficient? I tried to get an early morning appointment (before work) and there are non this week.
