What is the difference between a vigilante and a renegade?

a renegade is just someone who goes against the rule. A vigilante is a civilian who takes justice into his own hands, often in a violent and illegal way. ex:Someone who kills a murderer (not in self defense) is a vigilante, and has still broken the law.
